History of Tallmadge Labrador Retrievers

I was bitten by the Lab bug in 1992 and I am still as head over heels in love with this breed today as I was then.
My first Lab was a big yellow boy named Champ. He was the epitome of what a Labrador was suppose to be,
sweet, gentle, loving and loyal. Both of my sons and husband fell in love with him. I started to bring him to match
conformation shows when he was a pup and it wasn’t before long that the dog show bug also bit me and I was
running Champ around the show ring every chance I could. Unfortunately Champ started to limp and was
diagnosed with OCD of the elbows. He had to have them operated on so Champ’s show career was over. The only
problem was that I really missed the competition and the camaraderie that I had enjoyed in the brief time that I
had been involved in the sport. I knew I had to get another Labrador to be able to participate again. My family
thought that I had gone insane, as we also had a bichon Frise at that time. After many promises my husband
reluctantly agreed to let me adopt a female show puppy. That is when my girl Rosie , aka  CH Paddingtons Run
for the Roses JH, came into my life. Everything that I have achieved in my breeding program so far I owe to her.
She is the foundation of which every dog I have today comes from. She was not only beautiful, but she had the
most wonderful biddable temperament that has been passed down to every generation including her great
grandchildren that live with me today. She has produced conformation champions and other titled get. She is the
standard to which I judge all of the dogs that are in my breeding program.

My passion is the conformation ring so when I breed, I do so to keep a pup for myself. I have an average of one
litter a year. My goal is to improve upon what I have, and with modern technology I can use the top producing
stud dogs in the country without having to go anywhere. This allows me to use dogs that are superior in pedigree,
health, temperament and looks. I am proud of the dogs I have bred and more importantly I am blessed to have
been able to have made so many families lives happier and fuller with the pups that have come from my kennel.

We currently reside in Massachusetts where we built a log home on 3.5 acres on the beautiful Swift river. The
dogs have a fenced acre of area of which to run, and of course the river in which they spend countless hours of
retrieving. But, at the end of the day they are all in the house being spoiled rotten as they are a big part of our
family.
